St Augustine’s PTA provides accommodation for staff

Cape Coast Aug 16, GNA – Mr Kwesi Cab-Addae, a private Legal Practitioner and Chairman of the St Augustine’s College Parent Teacher Association (PTA) on Tuesday cut the sod for work to begin on the construction of a 190-million cedi three-unit staff bungalow for the College, at Cape Coast.

The PTA through special levies and contributions is funding the two-bedroom flat and two single bed-sitters. The project to be completed in six months is part of the PTA’s contribution towards the 70th anniversary celebration of the College, which is to start on Sunday.

Speaking to newsmen, Mr. Cab-Addae said it is the policy of the PTA to help in improving the living conditions of the staff. He said that the Association has already spent about 307 million cedis to provide three generators, an additional toilet for the students and to renovate the Headmaster’s bungalow.

It has also instituted a staff welfare scheme to create an atmosphere to promote teaching and learning. He thanked members of the Association for their contribution towards the education of their wards.

Mr Jerry Ben Koomson, Headmaster thanked the PTA for its assistance and said the project would help ease the accommodation problem of the school’s 60 teaching staff, out of which only 36 are housed.

He was confident that the project, which is near the dormitories would help in checking indiscipline among the students.
