Persons on SSNIT Pension are required to complete life certificates with the Trust every three years instead of six months on attaining 72 years.
Mr Hanson Amoaku Senior Compliance Officer of the Trust gave the hint at the 20th anniversary celebration of the Ho District Council of SSNIT National Pensioners Association in Ho.
Mr Amoaku said the Trust was adopting a new operational system to “serve you better”.
He assured pensioners that there was no ulterior motive behind the Trust’s biometric registration exercise, which is one of several ways towards efficient service delivery.
The Trust, he said, would continue to explore ways at improving the relationship between it and pensioners.
“You inspire us to make SSNIT a strong institution,” Mr Amoaku told the pensioners.
Mr Seth Seshie, National President of SSNIT National Pensioners Association, said the leadership of the Association was working at resolving some operational difficulties towards the SSNIT Pensioners Medical Scheme, which has delayed for five years.
He explained that the Medical Scheme would supplement the National Health Insurance Scheme in helping pensioners address their peculiar health problems.
Togbe Kotoku XI, Chief of Kpenoe who chaired the launch, urged pensioners to explore more ways at securing their collective self-security as the traditional social security system of the extended family system has been weakened with time.
Meanwhile the Ho District Council of the Association is to construct an office complex, Madam Victoria Adzowu, its Chairperson has hinted.
The edifice would comprise of offices, conference centre, restaurant, bar and hostel.
Madam Adzowu said the complex would provide opportunities for recreation, relaxation, exercise and socialization for members.
She therefore appealed to the Lands Commission to expedite work on the allocation of land for the project.
From five members at its birth 20 years ago, the branch now has 1,000 members, Madam Adzowu said.
The Association helps its members to acquire loans from the banks, provides death benefits and proposed medical scheme.
