SSNIT drags company to court for non-payment

Takoradi, April 19, GNA – A Takoradi Circuit Court on Tuesday ordered the management and board of BMK Particle Board Company based in Takoradi to settle its indebtedness to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) before May 5.

The plea of the company was not taken and the case has been adjourned to May 5.

Mr George E. Koomson, the Presiding Judge, gave the order when SSNIT initiated action against the company for defaulting in the payment of workers’ contributions amounting to 44.5 million cedis to SSNIT. Mr Koomson said workers’ deductions under the SSNIT law was not the property of any employer and should not be delayed under any circumstances. 19 April 05
