Spitting and spittle land woman in court

Kade, May 18, GNA -Akua Eunice, an unemployed woman, who spat into a soup being prepared for sale to the public was on Monday granted GHC 80 bail with one surety by the Kade District Magistrate Court. Eunice who pleaded not guilty will re-appear on May 28. Police Inspector D.A. Atigsika, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr. Abdul Majid Iliasu that for the past few months, the accused had been beating the complainant, Ataa Panin, who is a physically challenged. He said whenever the case was reported to the police, elders of Apinamang would plead with the police to permit them settle the case at home.

The prosecutor said Eunice took advantage of that situation and on April 29 at about 1900 hours when the complainant was preparing food to sell, the accused who was then returning from the town without any provocation spat into the soup. When the complainant questioned Eunice the reasons for her action, she replied that had it not been the fact that she complainant was her mother’s sister she would have poisoned her. A report was made to the police and the accused was arrested and in her caution statement, she denied the offence.
