Spiritan Institute of Philosophy to award degree

Ejisu (Ash), July 1, GNA- The Spiritan Institute of Philosophy at Ejisu is now affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for it to award degrees in social sciences.

Rev Fr Gabriel Luseni, Rector of the Institute, said arrangements for the affiliation were completed last year.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that the institute was offering a three-year diploma in philosophy and religious studies for students aspiring to be priests.

He said apart from its core mission the institute also conducts a three-year academic programme in western philosophy, social sciences and African studies.

The Rector said in its bid to make graduates more self-reliant agricultural science has now been made part of the institute’s academic programme.

“Students are now trained in the theory of agriculture and practice basic farming making it possible for them to cultivate and make vegetables available for the institute all year around,” he said.

The institute has a livestock farm of 1,240 birds, eight cows and 34 pigs.
