Spio Garbrah Confirms Bid For Presidency

Dr Ekow Spio Garbrah, former Education Minister in the National Democratic Congress regime and one time Ghana?s Ambassador to the United States has finally confirmed speculations that he is interested in contesting the Presidency come December 2008.

He was insistent that he was interested in standing on the seat of the National Democratic Congress.

In an interview with newsmen in an Accra based radio station, Dr Spio Garbrah said he was aware of the group DraftSpio 2008 Campaign being touted by a group pushing his presidential aspirations.

Dr Spio Garbrah condemned the formation of the Democratic Freedom Party by former NDC Chairman, Dr Obed Yao Asamoah, saying the motivation behind the new party was not justifiable.

According to him, Dr Asamoah forming a new party because he lost the NDC chairmanship was not a good development. On the Representation of the Peoples Law, the communications expert said the law was generally good. He however added that it would have been advisable if the issue of implementation was sorted out first before the passage of the Law.
