Speed up ‘One District, One Factory’ project to curb migration – Annoh-Dompreh tells gov’t

The Chairman of the Select Committee on Foreign Affairs in Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has asked the current administration to hasten the implementation of the “One District One Factory” project to prevent Ghanaian migrants from entering Libya other dangerous places illegally.

About one hundred and twenty-seven (127) Ghanaian migrants Wednesday night arrived from Libya with one in a critical condition. The migrants were brought in by two flights, Air Libya and Afriqiya Airways after they were rescued from detention centers in Libya following CNN’s footage of migrants being auctioned off as slaves in Libya.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive Thursday, Annoh-Dompreh, explained that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagship one district, one factory will provide employment opportunities to the youth in order to keep them in the country.

He also urged the government as well as the various religious organizations to preach the need for the public to take up existing opportunities in the country.

“I will also urge Ghanaian youth to be patient and not be in a rush to seek greener pastures,” he added.
