Speculation of buffalo and lion invasion denied by police

Reports have been denied by the police in the Northern region on the claims that two wild animals have drifted into the district piercing and savaging eight villagers.

There is a claim from some residents that a buffalo has wandered into Jindaratu a village in the East Gonja district and has trampled six persons to death and lion has killed two villagers in the Kpandai district today.

Madam Hanan, a journalist with a local radio station in the district capital, Asaase FM, has however described the incident as “rumour”.

No traces of animals and casualties have been found by the search team involving police and locals according to her.

Dead bodies as claimed by the villagers were not shown to the search team when asked.

Another resident, a headmaster of the Kpandai Senior High School also denied the report.

Police in the East Gonja district have rubbished the report calling it “news” to them.

District Police Commander, DSP Alhaji Amenu said no such case was reported in the district.

He, however, said he was going to seek information from sources including the Traditional rulers.

Hospital and mini clinics have also denied the speculations.
