Special Prosecutor’s office is not to witch-hunt anyone – NPP Communicator

Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party at the Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Edmund Kyei says the establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor is not meant to witch-hunt anyone from any specific political party, but rather aims at fighting corruption in the country.

In an interview with Angel TV’s Esther Abankwa, Edmund Kyei observed that the Special Prosecutor will trial all persons irrespective of their political colors.

“NPP will not be in power forever, it would leave for another party to take over, whereas the Special Prosecutor’s office will always be there. I want to assure Ghanaians that this is not witch haunting. It is only to fight corruption”. He said.

He advised politicians to be careful in their dealings, since they would be made to account for whatever they do.

The office of the Special Prosecutor is to enable the government deal with issues of corruption, especially among officials.

Under the Bill, an Independent Prosecutor will head the office and prosecute corruption offenses by State Officers.

It was one of the major promises made by President Akufo-Addo as part of his plans to deal with corruption in his government.
