SpaceFM Commended

The Management and Staff of a Sunyani-based Private Radio Station, Space 87.7 Fm were on Friday given tons of commendation by the people of Brong Ahafo Region for opening a new chapter in broadcasting standards in the Region.

But for the timely intervention of Mr. Ransford Antwi (pictured) a Director and General Manager of the station, the on-going registration exercise (taking of pictures) in the Brong Ahafo Region would have been dealt a big blow, after cameramen had embarked on a sit-down strike to compel the Electoral Commission to come out how much the latter was going to give them (the Cameramen) after the exercise.

The Director, whose Station (Space FM) was then doing a LIVE coverage of the exercise had gone to the District Electoral office to see how best the issue could be resolved. After the issue had been partially resolved, the issue that once again threatened the exercise was how to transport the cameramen back to their various centres. And with the leadership of the EC not present at the time, Mr. Antwi volunteered to pay the transportation of most of the Cameramen and again used his Car to transport the rest, a gesture many think is highly patriotic and exemplary and therefore, needs commendation.

Space Fm was highly commended for their extensive coverage during the first phase of the Registration exercise, when the came out with super jingle in all dialects, calling on the people of the Brong Ahafo Region to register, in the interest of mother Ghana. It was this same station that caused a stir nation-wide, by exposing the EC for using expired indelible in the National Registration exercise.

In an interview, Mr. Ransford Antwi stated that he only one of the many things the station was set up to accomplish (commitment to national cause), and therefore believes ?it?s no big deal?
