South-Dayi District Assembly to take over public toilets

Peki, Jan. 11, GNA – The South Dayi District Assembly is to take over privately owned public toilets in the district to ensure they are maintained.

The assembly has accordingly begun consultations with the owners of such facilities concerning the take-over.

Mrs Woyram Boachie-Danquah, the South Dayi District Chief Executive, said this during a clean-up exercise at Peki Dzake on Wednesday organized by Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a waste management company, in collaboration with the district assembly. Mrs Boachie-Danquah said the assembly was also working with the District Environmental Office to encourage those still using bucket latrines in their houses to convert to ventilated improved pits. The assembly would provide consultation and support people who would initiate the conversion of their bucket latrines.

Mr. Daniel Martey Kwame, Programme Supervisor of Zoomlion, said the exercise would be sustained to instill the culture of cleanliness in people. 10 Jan 07
