Somebody at Ministry of Information is lying – Ursula

Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Mrs. Ursula Ekufful, has asked government and the Ministry of Education to come clean on the number of laptops disbursed from the Media Development Fund.

According to her, the number of laptops alleged to have been disbursed by the Ministry of Information is different from what was brought to parliament.

“This issue came up when we were analyzing the budget for the Ministry of information. On the top list of their 2013 achievements was the distribution of 952 laptops to the media. How they utilized the media fund was achievement No. 1. Up till now we don’t know who was involved in the decision making process, when the decision was made and how it was made,” she told Kwami Sefa-Kayi on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo programme.

She has asked the media to do more probing into the disbursement because to use the entire Ghc1 Million to purchase just laptops; it’s too expensive.

“Out of the Ghc1 Million media fund, how many laptops did they buy because they told us in parliament that they had 952 laptops…this is contrary to what is in the media now…they gave no indication that they used some of the money in buying the laptops. If you used Ghc1m to buy laptops, then how much is one laptop? It means somebody at the Ministry of Information is not telling us the truth” she indicated.
