Some 500 people displaced by floods at Nkawkaw

Nkawkaw (E/R), Aug. 12, GNA – Floods have displaced more than 500 people and destroyed property worth millions of cedis in Nkawkaw following about 10 hours of rainfall that began on Sunday night. The affected people are putting up with friends, relatives and in hotels.

The worst affected areas are Asuogya, Atta-ne-Atta, Abrodem, Pentecost Chapel Area and Domeabra Railway Line. Speaking to the press after visiting some of the affected areas, the Kwahu South District Chief Executive, Mr Raymond Osafo Djan said the assembly had begun providing hotel accommodation and food rations to the affected people.

He said the District Office of the National Disaster Mobilisation Organisation (NADMO) is also mobilising relief items for distribution to the victims.
