Some 200 homeless persons receive relief items

Tamalegu (N/R), Sept 5, GNA- The Gushiegu/Karaga District Assembly in collaboration with the District National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) on Thursday presented relief items to 200 persons whose houses collapsed following a recent rainstorm at Tamalegu in the Northern Region.

Madam Rita Tani Iddi, the District Chief Executive (DCE) presented the items that included 40 bags of cement, one bale of used clothing and 40 blankets.

She appealed to NGOs and charitable organizations to come to the aid of the victims who are now staying with relatives and friends. Mr Abu Haruna, Assemblyman for the village who received the items, thanked the assembly and NADMO for the assistance.

He said some of the victims have been accommodated at the local primary school and expressed the fear that more people would be affected due to continued rains in the area.
