Soldiers leave for Sierra Leone peacekeeping

Accra, Sept. 9, GNA – Ghanaian soldiers to the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) left Accra on Tuesday by air for Sierra Leone for peacekeeping duties.

Lieutenant Colonel George Biah leads Ghanbatt 8, which is made up of 28 officers and 202 other ranks.

The soldiers who are drawn from the Fourth Battalion in Kumasi would relieve Ghanbatt 7.

At the airport to see them off was Brigadier George Nii-Ayibonte, Director General, Joint Operations.
