Soldiers deployed to Saboba to maintain calm

Soldiers have been deployed to Saboba in the Northern region to reinforce security in the area following a series of clashes between students of the Saboba Senior High School and irate residents from a particular community in area.

The conflict started after the school attempted diverting a footpath which runs through its compound.

Teachers and students complain the usage of the footpath by residents distracts attention during school hours.

The residents didn’t take kindly to the diversion.

The School has been temporarily closed down following the harassment of the Headmaster by the residents.

District Chief Executive of Saboba, Ali Adolf, confirmed the temporary closure of the school and explained that with the presence of the military the situation would be normalised.
