Sokoban resettlement project to be ready January

Kumasi, Aug 28, GNA- Mrs Alice Addai-Yeboah, Head of the Sokoban Resettlement Project in Kumasi, has indicated that the project would be completed by January next year.

She said all initial works have been completed while the construction of sheds, administrative blocks, shops, drains and other structures are also on going. Mrs Addai-Yeboah announced this when she addressed timber sellers, carpenters and others at Anloga, who were affected by the resettlement programme at a meeting in Kumasi at the weekend. She assured them that everything possible would be done to complete the project on time to pave the way for the commencement of the Anloga-Junction-Asokwa bypass road project to ease traffic congestion in the metropolis.

The meeting was also used to educate them on malaria and HIV/AIDS prevention. Madam Elizabeth Adu-Boahen, Director of Adu-Boahen Health Foundation, said stagnant water breeds’ mosquitoes and that they should maintain hygienic surroundings to avoid getting malaria and other diseases. Torgbui Mawufe Fugah, Chairman of the Resettlement Planning Committee, commended the government and all stakeholders for the project and pledged to support it.
