Sky Train case: Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi granted GH₵10m bail

The Accra High Court has granted bail in the sum of GH₵10 million with two sureties to be justified with landed properties located in Accra to former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi. .

This follows a bail application by his lawyers during proceedings at the court presided over by Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe on Monday, May 26.

As part of the bail conditions, the former Education Minister has been directed to deposit his travel documents, including his passport, with the court registry.

He is also expected report to the police once every week until further notice.

The court has adjourned sitting to June Tuesday, June10, 2025, at 10:00am for a case management conference.

On the scheduled date, the court will set timelines for pre-trial processes and determine how the trial will proceed.

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) stalwart has been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, specifically wilfully causing financial loss to the Republic.

The charges, brought under Sections 23(1) and 179A(3)(a) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), relate to a US$2 million payment made in 2019 to Africa Investor Holdings Limited.

The payment was intended to support the development of an urban Skytrain system in Accra, an initiative which never came to fruition. .
