Sixty NDC activists defect to the NPP

Kumasi, Sept 6, GNA – Sixty activists of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Ayigya Zongo in the newly created Oforikrom constituency in the Kumasi Metropolis joined the NPP.

The defectors said they were impressed with the leadership style of President John Agyekum Kufour that had brought peace and hope not only to Ghana but also to West Africa.

Mr Baba Yahaya Adamu, the spokesman for the defectors, appealed to the leadership of the NPP to give them encouragement and support to enable them contribute their quota towards achieving the party’s objective of winning the December elections.

He thanked the leadership of the Ashanti Regional NPP for accepting them and expressed optimism that with the pragmatic socio-economic policies being pursued by the government, the country will overcome its problems.

Mr Lawrence Akwasi Prempeh, the chairman of the Oforikrom constituency of the NPP, commended the defectors for their sense of objectivity and appreciation of the good work of the party since it came to power.

He told them to study the party’s constitution to enable them understand how it operates. “We shall not hesitate to call you to order if you do not work within the confines of the party’s rules and regulations.”
