Accra, Nov. 22, GNA – Sixteen Ghanaian teachers are currently in the United Kingdom (UK) attending a “Dreams and Teams Africa'” partnership conference being organised by British Council to develop the creativity and skills of young people.
The 5-day conference being attended by teachers from Tanzania, Cameroon, Senegal, Uganda, Malawi, Ghana and the UK is aimed at providing a platform for teachers in Africa and the UK to develop a plan detailing what they hope to accomplish together as a partnership for the next few years.
A statement issued by the British Council in Accra on Wednesday said “Dreams and Teams Africa” is a British Council leadership and cross-cultural project aimed at developing the creativity and skills of young people and increasing mutual understanding between the young people in a number of countries in Africa and the UK through sports. “The teachers will spend time together discussing the similarities and differences between their schools; education systems; management styles and teaching methodologies; as well as develop their relationship and understand more about each other’s culture. They will also share ideas on sports and leadership skills,” the statement said.
“We believe this is going to broaden our understanding of British culture. We only expect a warm welcome from our hosts and we hope for a happy stay with them,” Mr Ahmed Abdul Karim, one of the teachers, said before their departure.
