Six-year-old girl burnt to death

Fire burnt a six-year- old girl while she was asleep at New-Ogbojo, a suburb of Madina in Accra, on Sunday.

Speaking to Ghana News Agency, the District Crime Officer of the Madina Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jerry John Boye said the death occurred in an uncompleted building that was engulfed by fire.

He said the child was lying on a mattress, which was burnt by the fire at about 1730 hours.

ASP Boye said when personnel of Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene, neighbours had extinguished the fire and a report was made to the Police.

The body of the girl is lying in the Ghana Police Hospital morgue pending autopsy.
