Six vie for Convention Party presidential slot

Six aspirants, including three legal practitioners, are vying for the presidential slot of the Convention Party (CP). They include Mr. George Aggudey, Alhaji Ibrahim Mahama and Mr. Johnny Hansen, all lawyers. The rest are Professor George Hagan, lecturer, Dr. Kwesi Nduom, management consultant, and Mr. Kwamena Essilfie Adjaye, economist. Dr. Nii Noi Dowuona, General Secretary of the party made this known in Accra.

Dr. Dowuona explained that the decision by the Central Committee of the CP to extend the period by two weeks was to enable it to deal with technical details as well as to enhance the spirit of competitiveness among the aspirants. Asked whether there were plans to change the date for the Delegates Conference slated for October 30, the General Secretary said: “the party has no cause to postpone it because it has not encountered any problems so far”. The venue for the conference is yet to be decided.
