Six grabbed for ‘wee’ smuggling

Six people have been arrested by police in the Volta Region for smuggling marijuana.

Regional Police Commander DCOP Peterkin Yentumi Gyinae told Class News in an interview that the suspects were arrested at Kpeve.

They were stopped by highway patrol officers on the Ho-Hohoe road.

Fifteen parcels of compressed dried leaves were found hidden among some loads in the two vehicles the suspects were driving, upon thorough search by the officers.

They are being processed for court, according to DCOP Yentumi Gyinae.

In Ghana’s laws, narcotic crimes are non-bailable. This means the suspects will be held in police custody until their trial is over.
