Six die in motor accident

Bomiri (B/A) Aug 10, GNA – Six persons died on the spot on the Techiman-Kintampo highway last weekend when an Opel Astra taxi cab with registration number AS 3293 X on which they were travelling skidded off the road and crashed into a tree. They were identified as Kofi Asamoah, Kofi Nyarko, popularly called ‘Akonoba’ and a teacher, Kwabena Issah, all from Bomiri, a farming community in Nkoranza district.

The others were Kwame Ofori, a tractor mechanic from Kintampo, Kwame Grumah, a mate to the late Asamoah and Kwasi Sam, also known as J.K., a tractor fitter from Yefri, near Nkoranza. Mr. Kofi Gyau, a member of the late Kofi Asamoah’s family told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Bomiri the deceased accompanied a friend, Nana Kwaku Antwi, who had recently returned from Spain, to transact business at Kintampo.

He said Nana Antwi however, did not join them in the taxicab and could not tell which of them was driving at the time of the accident as they were all drivers.

Mr. Gyau said while speeding, the cab veered off the road to the opposite side of the road and crashed into a big teak tree, killing all the six instantly.

A large crowd of mourners from Nkoranza joined the bereaved families at Bomiri at the funeral of the three, who were laid in state in the open.

They deceased have since been buried.
