Six die in accident at Ntoaso

Nsawam, April 2, GNA – Three male adults, two female adults, and a 4-year-old boy died when a Benz bus traveling from Nkawkaw to Accra collided with an articulator truck coming from Accra at Ntoaso near Nsawam on Thursday evening.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Alex Wowolo said 21 passengers who are also in critical condition are on admission at the Nsawam Government Hospital whiles the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the same hospital for autopsy. DSP Wowolo said the incident occurred when the driver from Nkawkaw swerved to save a 65year old man who was trying to cross the road and collided with the articulator.

DSP Wowolo said Mr. Philip Tetteh, the driver of the articulator truck had been detained by the police, whereas Mr. Omani, the driver of the Benz bus is also in critical condition at the Nsawam hospital. The police commander appealed to the Nkawkaw drivers union of GPRTU and parents to come and assist the police to identify the deceased and also appealed to drivers to stop over-speeding and overtaking to save lives during the Easter holidays.
