Six die after galamsey pit caves in at Wassa

Six people have lost their lives after a galamsey pit collapsed on them at Wassa Adonoi, a community near Bawdie in the Amenfi East District of the Western Region.

A seventh person survived and receiving treatment at the hospital, the assemblyman for Bawdie Isaac Anum Oduro has told StarrFMOnline.com.

According to him, the incident which occurred Thursday followed a heavy downpour in the area weakening the base of the pit that caved in on them when they went mining.

The six dead bodies have been deposited at the Wassa Akrong Hospital morgue.
