Six arrested in police operation against group hunting

Gomoa Ojobi (C/R) May 2 GNA- The Agona Swedru Division of the Police Service has arrested some group hunters who are blamed for the destruction of farms and stealing of food stuffs at Gomoa Ojobi in the Central Region.

Mr Charles Adalong, Kasoa District Police Commander, who briefed the Ghana News Agency at Gomoa Ojobi about the operation said three buses carrying the over 50 hunters have been intercepted. He said the drivers and leaders of the hunters have been arrested although majority of those on the hunting expedition managed to escape. ASP Adalong said two short guns were seized.

He said those arrested would soon be prosecuted since group hunting has been banned in the country. 02 May 05
