Juaso (Ash), Dec. 13, GNA – Six armed robbers wearing masks with guns, cutlasses and axes last Saturday attacked Mr. Fabian Belieb, Asante-Akim South District Director of Education and his wife at their bungalow at Juaso.

Also attacked were his two visitors, Mr. Twumasi, an agricultural officer at Ejura and Miss Victoria Sarpong, a teacher.

According to Mr Belieb who spoke to the Ghana News Agency, the robbers arrived at his bungalow at about 0200 hours, attacked the watchman whom they forced to lead them to the director’s room which they used a big stone to break the door.

They held the bungalow under siege for nearly two hours and after slashing the director’s back with a sharp cutlass, ransacked the room and made away with an unspecified amounts of cedis and foreign currencies as well as boxes of clothing, jewellery and mobile phones. Mr Belieb said the robbers then broke into the rooms of his visitors and took their mobile phones and 500,000 cedis which they had on them after assaulting them.

Superintendent Francis Agrippa Oppong, Juaso District Police Commander, who confirmed the story, said there had been other separate robbery cases at Juaso around the same period in which the victims involved were recovering from gunshot wounds at Juaso district hospital and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
