Six accidents recorded in Ho during the yuletide

Ho, Jan.3, GNA – Six accidents were recorded by the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Union (MTTU) within the Ho Municipality during the Christmas and New Year festivities. Mr Simon Atese from Ziope near Kpetoe died in one of the accidents, at the Ho Housing junction on January 2. Five other persons received injuries in five other accidents during the period.

Mr Johnson Kwesi Ganyo, Volta Regional Unit Commander of the MTTU said the Unit also recorded a hit and run incident but the victim, an 18-year-old woman survived while the Police investigate the incident. Meanwhile, the crime rate within the Municipality remained low during the Christmas and New Year holidays with only trivial cases of assault reported at the Police Station according to Mr Kwadwo Appiagyei, the Ho Municipal Police Commander.

He said the number of cases reported was of the normal average of about 10 cases a day.

The Police Commander said other cases brought to the Police were related to petty stealing, a situation which was not a departure from the usual crime within the Municipality.

Mr Appiagyei said most of the cases, which involved relations were promptly resolved.
