Sitting of appointment committee postponed

Accra, Jan. 19, GNA – Sitting of the Appointments Committee of Parliament to vet the President’s nominees for ministerial appointments has been rescheduled for Friday, January 21.

The Committee was to begin its public hearing on Thursday, January 20 but the day has been declared a public holiday in commemoration of the Muslim Eid-Ul -Adha celebration.

A statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr Frederick Nutsugah, a Clerk of the Committee, however said the time is still 1000 hours at the Speaker’s conference room.

Nominees scheduled to appear before the Committee on Friday are: Mr Joseph Henry Mensah, for Senior Minister, Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong, for Parliamentary Affairs, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, Education and Sports, and Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor, Defence.

The rest are: Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister designate for Finance and Economic Planning, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, for Foreign Affairs and Papa Owusu Ankomah, Interior.
