Sister City delegates call on I.G.P.

Accra, July 8, GNA – The Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive Mr Solomon Ofei Darko on Tuesday announced plans to revitalize the sister city relationship between Accra and Chicago in the US, to enhance the development of the nation’s capital.

Mr Darko made this known when he led a 10-member delegation of the Sister City Foundation to pay a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Nana Owusu Nsiah in Accra.

The visit was to show the delegates’ appreciation to the Police for their support during the just ended 12th Annual US Africa Sister City Conference in Accra, especially during the AIDS Walk through some principal streets of Accra.

Mr Darko gave highlights of the one-week conference that included a training programme to enhance the capacity of Ghana Police Service and Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) through exchange programmes with their counterparts in Chicago.

The Deputy Mayor of Chicago, Mr Charles R. Bowen, said he was going to provide towing trucks to help AMA to reduce traffic congestion in the city.

In response Nana Nsiah thanked the delegation for its readiness to help the Police adding that such public support “makes it easy to bring out the best security and maintain a peaceful atmosphere”.
