Sissala East MP supports schools

Hajia Alijata Sulemana, Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala East Constituency in the Upper West Region, has presented some items to 56 schools to boost education in the constituency.

The items, running into thousands of Ghana cedis, were made up of 6,000 pieces of Sandals, 5,000 exercise books and 450 school uniforms, procured from the MP’s share of the Common Fund.

Both Primary and Junior High Schools formed part f the 56 beneficiary schools.

In an interview with pressmen in Accra, the MP said the presentation was to facilitate the educational needs of pupils within the constituency.

“I see education as very fundamental to the development of Sissala East, and this presentation is part of my efforts to ensure that every child of school going age feels comfortable and stays in school,” the MP said, adding, “the presentation is to help alleviate the burden of parents, who are mostly farmers in educating their wards.

She pointed out that encouraging children to stay in school would enhance their learning and would go a long way to develop the human resource of the area and the country as a whole.

The MP, a former District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, said she had a fair idea about the state of the schools in her area, hence her decision to use her share of the MP’s statutory funds to make life comfortable for the young ones in the constituency.

The Sissala East Legislator assured the pupils of her regular support and urged them to stick to their books.

Hajia Sulemana commended teachers who have accepted to teach in the remotest part of the country and also promised to donate solar lanterns to all teachers in the remotest areas to help them stay and offer the children the best of education.

According to the MP, she also donated a grinding mill to the Tanla Community and promised to donate nine others to other communities soon.
