Sir John is an apology of a Gen. Sec.

General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popular known as Sir John, has recently been under the spotlight for the wrong reasons.

He courted controversy when he accused the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the National Security service of plotting to assassinate the 2012 vice presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, following his accident in the Northern Region.

Dr Bawumia was involved in an accident on March 17th, and insisting that the circumstances which led to the accident were bizarre, Sir John accused the NDC of complicity.

Speaking as a panelist on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji, Member of Parliament for the Nanton constituency, Hon. Ibrahim Mutala Mohammed lambasted the NPP Chief Scribe saying, ‘he is an apology of a General Secretary’.

According to him, Sir John is bringing the name of the NPP into disrepute. He said through the action and inaction of Sir John, the NPP is gradually moving from a political party to a pressure group.

“Sir John is becoming an apology of a General Secretary…he is becoming a serial caller…I wonder the kind of political leadership they have in the party…you find leading members of the party defending such reckless statement”

“That gentleman; for me sometimes when he makes such statements, I just laugh over them. He is just trying to get some attention,” he indicated

He called on the NPP to call Sir John to order and ‘focus on rebuilding their party because the party is shredded and is in a ramshackle state’.
