Sipa-Yankey To Quit?

Dr George Adjah Sipa-Yankey may, in the coming days, take a decision that will keep him far away from National Democratic Congress politics. This is to enable him save himself from a plot being perpetuated against him within the NDC government in a bid to perpetually keep him out of the government using the stalled Mabey & Johnson bribery investigation of him and others as a tool. He intends to find something productive doing with his life, The catalyst has gathered.

Dr Sipa-Yankey, the paper has been told, is in hot demand abroad for various kinds of jobs. Offers are pouring in for him to take up jobs including consultancy services, teaching in top ranked universities worldwide among others. He thus cannot spend the rest of his lifetime waiting for a simple investigation into the Mabey & Johnson bribery allegation against him and others, which clearly has no end in sight.

The Catalyst has published in the recent past that but for machinations within the NDC government against Dr Sipa-Yankey, the Commission of Human Rights & Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) would have cleared him of any wrongdoing in December last year. Dr Sipa-Yankey resigned his position as Minister of Health in the Mills-led NDC government following an allegation of payment of bribes to him and others in the 1990s by Mabey & Johnson, British bridge building company. He described the allegation as untrue and left his post in government in order to have time to fight and clear his name.

Presently, there is no end in sight for the investigation as CHRAJ is battling at the Appeals Court, a ruling by a Human Rights Court that says it no longer has jurisdiction over the matter and is thus debarred from conducting further investigation into it.

Recent developments in the Mabey & Johnson bribery allegation are not taken place out of the blue, this paper can state. The recent happenings fall perfectly into the game plan of powerful forces within the government who, for reasons best known to themselves, are leaving no stone unturned to make sure Dr Sipa-Yankey does not earn a recall into the government from President Mills. Stay tuned.
