Sinapi Aba Trust disburses 700 million cedis to women groups

Breman Asikuma(C/R), Nov. 01, GNA 96 The management of Sinapi Aba Trust, a Kumasi-based NGO has disbursed about 700 million cedis to some women groups in Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District to expand their operations.

The women in groups between 25 and 50 each are from Odoben, Amanda, Brakwa, Kuntunase and Breman Asikuma.

Each woman received between 500,000 cedis and four million cedis and expected to repay them within 16 weeks.

Mr Seth Ofori, Agona Swedru Area Manager of the NGO, addressing the women at a meeting at Breman Asikuma said the financial assistance was to assist under privileged women to venture into trading to improve their living standards.

He said the package were not gifts and therefore, urged them to re-pay the loan to enable others benefit from the scheme. Mr Emmanuel Adjei Domson, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Chief Executive in an address read on his behalf by Mr Antwi Boasiako, District Coordinating Director urged the beneficiaries to re-pay the loans.

He urged individual artisans and farmers to form groups to qualify them to access loan from the NGO and financial institutions. 01 Nov. 06
