Silver Crest Workers before court

Accra, April 20, GNA – Two workers of Silver Crest Limited, a Supermarket in Accra, on Tuesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing 92.5 million cedis belonging to the Company. The accused persons William Hill, Sales Assistant and George Kojo Boateng Operational Manager, pleaded not guilty to two counts of conspiracy to steal and stealing.
The court presided over by Mrs Jennifer Tagoe granted each of them 200 million cedis bail to reappear on April 23.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Eric Amoako, prosecuting, told the court that the complainant was Mr Sylvester Asare Owusu, the Managing Director and Former Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club.
He said the accused persons took advantage of the inability of the complainant to conduct regular stocktaking to commit the crime. DSP Amoako said Mr Owusu during a recent stocktaking exercise discovered that the accused persons had managed to steal the money by manipulating the figures in the stock ledger.
