SIC supports School of Medical Sciences with GH¢50,000.00

The School of Medical Sciences (SMS) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been presented with a GH¢50,000.00 cheque towards the improvement of its infrastructure.

It was a donation from the State Insurance Company (SIC) Limited.

Ms Lydia Lariba Bawa, Manager in-charge of the Northern Sector of SIC, said the company had earmarked a total of GH¢450,000.00 to support the upgrading of facilities at the school.

The amount would go into the construction of an administration complex, lecture halls and state-of-the-art laboratory.

Ms Bawa said the SIC sees the University as a strategic partner and would do everything to deepen its cooperation with it.

The company, she added, would continue to serve as a reliable partner in the promotion of science and technology education in the country.

Professor William Otoo Ellis, Vice-Chancellor, thanked the company for its collaboration with the University for the past 30 years.

He said the SIC’s tremendous assistance over the period had helped to enhance research, technology transfer and infrastructural development.

Prof Ellis appealed to corporate institutions to do more to aid the development of tertiary education.
