Siamese twins delivered at Kade Gov’t Hospital

A twenty-five-year-old lady, Mary Botchway, a native of Asuom in the Kwaebibirem District of the Eastern Region, yesterday gave birth to three-legged conjoined twins at the Kade Government Hospital at 9:00 am.

The twins, according to information, have two heads, four arms, three legs, a closed anus and one male sex organ.

The midwife, one Kate at the female ward, confirmed the bizarre birth to DAILY GUIDE, adding that the babies were receiving medical attention.

According to her, the medical officer-in-charge had been asked to send the babies to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for surgery.

Kate said the conjoined twins had colostomy done on them after their delivery to enable them defecate, adding that they were still very fragile.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the incident had shocked the family of the mother, as they besieged the hospital in groups discussing the matter.

At the time of filing this report, the paper learnt that the mother of the twins was receiving medical treatment while the twins were in an incubator.

Some of the family members who spoke to DAILY GUIDE – but refused to mention their names – expressed shock about the incident.

One old man remarked, “My son, this is horrific, terrible and an abomination to us. We haven’t seen nor heard about this in our family before.”
