Shun Church leaders who amass wealth

Kumasi, Feb 8, GNA – The Reverend James Kwabena Badu, General Overseer of the African Faith Ministry International in Kumasi, has called on Christians to be wary of church leaders who were out to amass wealth in the name of the Church.

He said due to poverty, ignorance and disease, most unsuspecting people were being duped by some unscrupulous Church leaders thereby bringing the Christian faith into disrepute.

In an interview with the GNA on the “Development of the Church” in Kumasi at the weekend, Rev Badu said it was time Christians stood up against false teachings and practices by some pastors who sought self aggrandisement.

He said the launch of cassettes in chapels, special anointing ceremonies, ritual bathing, prayers for visa and other fortunes should be questioned by devoted Christians.

Rev Badu said the launch of cassette in the chapel for instance could be likened to the selling of animals in the synagogues, which was condemned by Jesus Christ in the Bible.

He appealed to people who were called to profess the work of Christ to emulate his virtue of selflessness, compassion, love, honesty and truth.

Rev Badu also asked ministers of the Christian religion to be committed to the work of God and to preach salvation to the congregation.

“All eyes are on us as ministers and leaders of the church and it, therefore, behoved us to lead modest and worthy lives and stop living expensive lives that will lead us into trouble”, he emphasised.
