SHS students ‘living’ with snakes in uncompleted structures

Students of the Kwabre Senior High School (SHS) in Akuma in the Nkoranza South District of the Brong Ahafo region are at the mercy of dangerous reptiles following the present state of the school.

The permanent site of the school is located within the outskirts of Kwabre and is not also hooked to the national grid with most of the structures on campus yet to be completed.

Worried students, disclosed to ultimatefmonline.com, they are literally living with snakes and other dangerous reptiles fearing for their safety since no day passes without them spotting one. What is more disturbing they disclosed, is the fact that the school is closer to a local cemetery making it more difficult for them to study at night since there is no light.

Authorities are pleading to Government to come to their indicating that there is no kitchen for the school to enable them cook meals for students.

Checks revealed that both the male and female teachers share the same apartment, the boys dormitories are used as classrooms, coupled with less number of furniture to accommodate all students.

Headmaster of the school, Frimpong Nicholas disclosed to ultimatefmonlin.com, that the situation is worrying and appealed to the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, the DCE and District Education directorate to come to their rescue.

“At least if we can get electricity to the school, the security of both the students and teachers will be secured to facilitate teaching and learning”, he disclosed.

He admitted that the structures at the school prior to their relocation to the permanent site, were partly completed but authorities were compelled to relocate to the new site because the old one was a rented structure and teachers were not too comfortable with the environment.
