SHS girl crushed to death over mobile phone

A 19-year-old final-year General Arts student, Patience Gyamfuah Aseidu, of Suhum Islamic Girls’ Senior High School (SHS) in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region, was crushed to death by a vehicle on Monday April 18 at 8:30 pm.

She was crossing the Accra-Kumasi Highway to meet her boyfriend to collect a mobile phone gift when a Kia Mini bus with registration number GR 4087-13 rammed into her, killing her on the spot.

An eyewitness, Ayeh, who narrated the incident, said the deceased, together with her colleagues, was studying when her alleged boyfriend called her through a mate’s mobile phone to meet him up by the road to pick up her new mobile phone he had bought for her.

The driver of the Kia truck, Yaw, who was on top speed from Nsawam to Suhum has been arrested and is currently in the custody of the Suhum Police.

The body of the girl has been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
