Shooting not linked to protracted conflict – Bawku police

Police in Bawku say Friday’s shooting by an unidentified assailant in Sagabo, in the Upper East Region, has no connection with the protracted Bawku conflict.

28-year-old Hasmin Yakubu was shot dead, and two others sustained gun wounds.

Bawku Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent Ebenezer Kwaku Asare tells JOYNEWS no arrest has been made.

He noted that the eyewitness who is a friend of the deceased could not identify the suspect.

The Bawku police commander suspects the armed man’s action was to settle a personal score with the deceased.

Ebenezer Kwaku Asare said patrols have been intensified in the area to arrest the suspect.
