Asamankese, May 08, GNA – A farmer who allegedly shot and injured two mourners conveying a corpse to the cemetery for burial has been granted a 15-million-cedi bail by the Asamankese Circuit Court. Jacob Tei Nartey pleaded not guilty to four counts of possessing offensive weapon, use of offensive weapon, discharging a gun in town without lawful authority and causing harm two persons and is to re-appear on May 26.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Joseph Idan told the court that on August 25 last year one Stephen Tetteh, a resident of Kofi Gya village, near Suhum, died.
He said while the body was being carried away to the cemetery, Nartey fired a locally made gun and some of the pellets injured Dina Addo on the chest and right thigh while Wilson Tetteh was hit on the right hip. Chief Inspector Idan said Nartey but surrendered himself to the police on August 28. 08 May 06
