Shoemaker jailed 19 years for defiling 14-year-old girl

Nsawam, June 16, GNA- A circuit court at Nsawam on Thursday sentenced David Hayibor, a 25-year-old shoemaker, to 19 years imprisonment with hard labour for assaulting and defiling a 14-year old girl.

Police Inspector Alex Cosmos told the court presided over by Mrs. Elizabeth Ankumah that on April 23, this year, at about 2300 hours, the victim, a chop bar attendant, who had closed from work was going home with her brother.

Prosecution said on their way home the suspect and one Paapa now at large, assaulted the victim and her brother and snatched 100,000 cedis from the victim’s brother.

Inspector Cosmos told the court that the brother of the victim managed to escape leaving the sister behind.

Prosecution said the suspect and Paapa dragged the girl behind a kiosk near the Nsawam lorry park and had sex with her. Inspector Cosmos said the girl’s brother reported the case to the police who arrested Hayibor but Paapa took to his heels.
