Akim Swedru (E/R), May 10, GNA – Two people who broke into a drinking bar at Akim Oda and stole items valued at 2.5 million cedis and cash of 400,000 cedis were on Tuesday sentenced to a total of eight years’ imprisonment by the Akim Swedru Circuit Court.
The convicts, Kwaku Amankwaah, a 22-year-old shoe repairer and Ibrahim Musah, a 35-year-old trader, were convicted on their own plea of guilty to two counts of unlawful entry and stealing.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Reindorf Agyeman, told the court, presided over by Mr Edward Bosompem Apenkwa Darko, that on April 6, this year, the two convicts broke into a drinking bar at dawn and stole a camera, mobile phone, a quantity of canned drinks, a stereo system and 400,000 cedis cash.
He said while they were ransacking the bar, an informant who spotted them, alerted a policeman on guard duties at a bank nearby and they were arrested.
