Sherry Ayittey Fulfills Promise To Mampong School For The Deaf

The Minister for Environment Science and Technology, Hon Sherry Ayittey last week Friday presented twenty five (25) waste bins to the Akuapim Mampong Demonstration School for the Deaf in fulfillment of a promise made to the school recently when she presented laptops under the better Ghana ICT programme to teachers and students to help enhance teaching and learning in science and technology.
The better Ghana ICT concept is part of the NDC Government’s policy of providing Laptop computers for students in schools all over the country to be abreast with changing trends and also bridge the gap of global technological advancement.
The school during that occasion appealed to the Minister for waste bins to keep the school’s environment clean.
At a short but impressive ceremony in Accra last week with students and teachers of the school, the Minister affirms her commitment as a mother to a clean environment to avoid outbreak of diseases hence the prompt response to their request for the waste bins by the authorities.
The Minister of Environment, Science and Technology provided them with 20 bins and were supported with an additional 5 bins by Qualiplast Company, a private plastic manufacturing company.
She noted that keeping the environment clean is paramount to the Ministry and she would do everything in her capacity to ensure that special schools and public places are kept clean. She also encouraged all Ghanaians to pay attention to the needs of the under- privileged to help unearth their hidden talents for the general benefit of society.
The Minister said she was happy to see the school children at the Ministry. She also had fruitful interactions with them through sign language learnt from the teachers.
The Headmistress of the school, Madam Regina Danquah expressed the appreciation of the school and the children, to Hon. Sherry Ayittey for being a good mother who came to their aid without delay, when their request was put before her. She said the waste bins would go a long way to make their environment clean.
Also at the ceremony was the marketing and Customer Relations Manager of Qualiplast Limited, Mr. Ishmael S.Quaye.
