Shama SHS Tutor appeals for justice

Takoradi, (W/R) Dec.11, GNA – One of the two agricultural science tutors of the Shama Senior High School (SHS) who were transferred from the school for their alleged insubordination and disrespectful attitude towards school authority had appealed for reinstatement to “continue his good works” for the school.

Mr Mathias Quaicoe said since he was transferred to teach at his alma mater in 2003, he worked hard to serve as a role model to encourage students and young people and said he had never at any time in his career been found wanting in the course of his duties. These were contained in a letter to the Director General of the Ghana Education Service and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi on Monday.

Mr Quaicoe denied having been given query for any offence for the past six years that he had worked with the Ghana Education Service (GES). “For the past six years that I worked with the GES, I have never received a query letter neither have I faced any disciplinary committee as alleged in my transfer letter”, he stated.

He recounted the sacrificial services that he had been rendering to the school and said his transfer was victimization as the result of his association with Mr Kwaku Duah-Agyemang, his head of department who had misunderstanding with Mr Kwadwo Atta-Obeng, Headmaster of the school. Meanwhile, the Board of Directors of the school has set up a three-member committee to settle the impasse between the Headmaster and the two teachers whose transfers had created division and disaffection among the staff of the school.

In November this year, Mr Duah-Agyemang and Mr Quaicoe were transferred to the Aboadze/Abuesi Junior High School and Korsah Complex Junior High School, respectively, as subject teachers as a result of their alleged indiscipline that could adversely affect academic work.
