Shama District Assembly approves President’s nominee

Shama (W/R) March. 28, GNA- The Shama District Assembly on Friday voted unanimously to approve President John Agyekum Kufuor’s nomination of Mr Joseph Amoah, a teacher, as the District Chief Executive (DCE). All the 17 members of the assembly voted in favour of Mr Amoah in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission. Mr Tsatsu Azumah, Sekondi District Magistrate, swore the new DCE into office.

Mr Amoah said he would provide leadership based on consensus building and promised to work with assembly members, the Member of Parliament for the area and other opinion leaders towards the development of the area. Mr Amoah said “I believe that if we move forward as a team, we should be able to set in motion strategies that would help to achieve our objectives.”

Mr Anthony Evans Amoah, Western Regional Minister, asked the new DCE to meet with the traditional authorities of the area to discuss their proposals for the development of the area. He called on the people to support the new DCE to move the district forward. Mr Kwesi Blay, Deputy Regional Minister and Mr Kwesi Nkrumah, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly were among the dignitaries present at the occasion.
