Shama Assembly fails to execute 10 projects awarded in 2012

The Shama District Assembly failed to execute 10 projects planned for 2012 due to inadequate funds from the District Assemblies Common Fund.

The assembly received GH¢321,858.10 representing 37.68 per cent of the total allocation of GH¢854,217.20.

This was contained in an update of 2013 budget estimates report presented by the District Budget Analyst, Mr Vincent Mawuli Wordi to the 25- member house at its sitting at Shama in the Western Region.

The report mentioned some of the affected projects as bungalows, offices, and urban drains.

It also said phase one of the house naming/numbering and street addressing exercise is almost complete and the data would be used to generate business identification codes to enhance easy billing and revenue estimation.

It said the formation of an adhoc committee is underway to come out with investment proposal that would help tap the various investment opportunities in the district.

Meanwhile, a 23 members of the house voted to retain a 47- year- old businessman, Mr Samuel Kwame Borlu for the second time as the presiding member.

Mr Borlu who would serve a three- year term assured members of transparency and called for their support, commitment to duty and hard work to promote the growth of the district.

Mr Enoch Kojo Appiah, District Chief Executive Shama advised the assembly members to put in their best during the fiscal year to step up revenue generation.
