Shama-Ahanta East Metropolis to name its streets

The Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly is to embark on an exercise to name all streets in the metropolis to facilitate easy identification of locations.

Mr Edward Philips, Presiding Member of the assembly said this at the weekend when addressing the Unit Committee and Council Elder Members of the Anaji electoral area. He said streets, which already have names would also be renamed because the current names are misleading and not helpful to visitors.

Mr Philips said under the proposed exercise, the streets would be named after personalities with outstanding contributions towards the development of the metropolis. He noted that naming of the streets after notable people would greatly encourage others to contribute selflessly to the development of the country. It would also help visitors to locate people and places easily.

Mr Philips said assemblies have been charged to contact chiefs and opinion leaders in their respective areas to come out with notable names for consideration by the assembly.
